The Lip Balm Hoarder: Part One

Hello dolls! So today i just wanted to talk to you about an addiction i have (well, yeah, ANOTHER addiction) about lip balms. Lip balms, lip butters,  lip smackers, you name it, i have it. So, when someone says lip balm, the idea i personally have inside my head about the product is : lip cure. Is it always that the case though?
NO. I've been searching for a good lip balm since the day i was born i suppose, and i have tried nearly everything on the market. That's because i'm one of those people with big lips which are 99% of the time chapped and nasty. I don't know, i guess it's a curse that was cast upon me by an evil witch. And that's not just during fall or winter, that's the case with my lips year round! So, i've tried some products, which i include here as a Part One (because i have many more of these, lol) to give you an opinion about what to try and what not.

Here are 8 lip balms i've tried and i'll get to them separately (stay tuned there's a Holy Grail product in there!) :)

liposan pure & natural in olive and lemon.
I know, you're like "omg, green lip balm". It's totally transparent, no worries!

Liposan is a Nivea brand, which is very well known (especially in Europe) about the lip balm series they have, which they usually update every year with limited edition flavours. I remember in school i always had the strawberry one with me, which still stuck with me later on in different packaging and fomulation. I didn't include the strawberry and cherry one in this post, but i do have those too. Ok, here's the deal. As much as i enjoy the Liposan series, they are more like a collection hobby to me. If you're someone that doesn't really have any chapping situation with their lips, these might be all you'll ever need. I personally find them just ok. They do not give that extra hydration to your lips that will last after the balm wears off. Some of them are nice and shiny, some other give a lovely color and some are a liiittle more on the lip-cure side (like the pot one "Light Kiss" or the "Hydro Care" one). However, none of them are the true balm that will soothe your lips at 100%. From my experience, the best for this job (in the Liposan Collection) is the classic one, that comes in the standard blue tube, but still, it is just OK.

So all in all about liposan lip balms:

liposan in grapefruit. Minimum color payoff, minimum hydration.
I use it as a lip gloss when i am outside because it's easy and smells lovely

liposan in soft rose.
Very light pink tint, almost matte (!!) finish. Hate it, i have it just to smell it the day i miss roses.

liposan vitamin shake in acai & manzana.
Really glossy, nice pink tint, i use it as a primer for some of my lipsticks.
Heavenly smell. I get a lot of compliments when i wear this one alone too. :)

Again, very glossy, nice coraly tint. Smells fresh  but it doesn't hydrate that much.

Now for my Garnier one. Garnier also has a lip balm collection, some multi-colored tubes with different names. I had the yellow one (i think it was called "Protect") and a green one ("nourish" was it?). Again, nothing oh-so-special about them. Some give a nice tint, some others are just sheer. None of them is the one that wow-ed me. They hydrate when i put them on, and then i might eat or just wipe it off my lips and my lips would be as chapped as they were before. The one i have here, the "Velvet" one, i like it because of the color. It's a nice shimmery peachy balm that looks cute on the lips. If you want something like a lip tint with minimum moisturization then i suggest this one. If you want something for a lip cure, don't spend your money on waiting for it to do miracles.

The Worse Thing Ever Existed in History of Lip Balms:

liposan-angel-star. Yeah, try Devil Star, will suit it better.

 Ok, this i completely hated, no joke. Not only it does not hydrate, but it has this FROSTY finish where you can actually feel the glitter when you rub your lips together. Did i mention it makes your teeth look more yellow than China Glaze polish in Lemon Fizz? I still don't know why i keep it. Ok, it has a nice smell, really fruity and all, but it's disgusting to use. And i gave this one every chance possible. I tried it alone, under lipstick, over lipstick, anything you can imagine. It just doesn't work for me. I think i keep it in case i forget i tried it and buy it again. Yes, that's why i keep it, lol.

(A liitle note: i understand that some of you may have a different opinion. Noone's needs are exactly the same with others', so it's only natural that something that works for me might not work for you and vice versa. I will always write my personal opinion on this blog, which i think it's the right thing to do. :) )

The Holy Grail Product!

O-M-G. Where have you been, all my life? (gotta love my Rihanna moment :P ) Who would know that some random day at Hondos Center will bring us two together (together foreveeeer). This is hands down the best lip balm (or lip butter to be more precise) i have ever tried. I found it one day when shopping for some hair accessories near the checkout at Hondos Center, they had them in this big plastic jar so i grabbed one to give my mom because she always asks for a lip balm, it's like her thing, lol. I 've never heard of the brand before, so i wasn't too interested in trying it myself (that was weird because i ALWAYS want to try lip balms). When my mom tried it, she was like "oh, that's a good one, i like it". So i thought i tried it too, and oh heaven on earth! The loveliest cocoa smell and the feeling.... butter on your lips! I immediately thought that it wouldn't last of course, so i waited until it wears off. And surprised was i to find out that it had left my lips so smooth and hydrated, i just went the next day at Hondos to buy some back-ups. Did i mention it cost me only 2 euros?? Insane! I pay 6 to 7 euros for the KORRES butters and it's kinda like the same thing if not better! If you happen to see this, give it a go and tell me what you think! ;)
