NYX haul: First Impressions

They're finally here! I've been listening to beauty bloggers all around the world raving about NYX Cosmetics and since i am such a jelly belly when it comes to makeup i cannot get my hands on, you can imagine how i felt when i found out that NYX is coming to my hometown, Thessaloniki!
The store opened October 6th and most beauty bloggers were invited to have a look at the products and even meet Toni Ko, the founder of the company. Since my blog is still a baby, i did not send an email to try and be one of the guests, but i did regret it later on when i saw pictures from the opening. :( Mainly because i could have the chance to meet other bloggers and meet the founder and all. Enough rambling about regrets though, let's get to the fun part.

First of all, since i did know about NYX before their arrival in Greece, i did have in mind A LOT of shades of products i've been meaning to try so i took my little agenda and went there on Monday. The store itself is really nice and simple, and the sales girls were extremely friendly and chatty which i really liked. I want to especially thank Despina who was really sweet and patient enough to see me go around the store squealing and asking about everything and helped me with my purchases. The sad part of the case is that from all the things i had on my to-buy list the store did not have a single one. That's because the whole line did not arrive and they were waiting for the rest of the products to come later this month or during November. For example they did have NYX Round Lipsticks but they didn't have Fig or Paris that i wanted. They did have Jumbo Eye Pencils but not Iced Mocha or Yoghurt. Same thing with some other shades i wanted to try.
Nevertheless, i couldn't leave empty-handed so i bought some lip products that i ended up loving after all.

I bought 2 of the Mega Shine lipglosses, 2 matte lipsticks and a lip liner. One of the glosses and the pencil lipliner were gifts from my bestie, <3

What shades i bought and why:

• Mega Shine Lipgloss in Tea Rose: a rosey pink shade perfect for everyday. Nothing too exciting, but i wanted a nice toned down pink for ages. It looks brown in photos, but it's not. It's a muted pink.
• Mega Shine Lipgloss in Gold Pink: a warm pink with multicolored shimmer (the white shimmer more obvious though). This one is perfect for topping a more "flat" lipstick like a matte pink to make it look more fun and shiny.
• Matte Lipstick in Merlot: a plummy red that goes on a lot darker on lips than what you'll see in the photos. It's amazing what a lipstick can do to your face, loved this one.
• Matte Lipstick in Tea Rose: i know, i got it in the lipgloss form too. However, they are nothing alike. The lipstick is more of a dusty rose pink, a lot more cool toned than the gloss.
• Pencil Lipliner in Plum: basically something to keep my Merlot lipstick under control. It's about the same shade as the lipstick.

Overall:

I am really pleased with the quality of all products. The matte lipsticks are amazing and have excellent pigmentation, they do not dry out my lips (but i do moisturize before application) and they last pretty much all day. The Glosses did live up to my expectations, the formula is lovely and the infamous smell is bearable, although i do generally prefer unscented lip products. The lipliner is one of the best i've tried.

 I can't wait to try the other products i wanted so as soon as i get my hands on them, i will do another haul for you to see.
